Additional Information
iOS 18 is compatible with the same iPhone models as iOS 17, starting from the iPhone XS released in 2018. Apple’s ongoing support for older iPhone models ensures users benefit from new features along with vital security updates and bug fixes.
In recent years, Apple has also made it more convenient for users to remain on their current iOS version if they’re not ready to upgrade to the latest release. For instance, when iOS 18 launched in September, iOS 17.7 was also made available. iPhone users could opt to upgrade to iOS 18 for new features or stick with iOS 17.7 to avoid potential bugs while still receiving crucial security updates.
Most recently, Apple launched iOS 17.7.2 and iPadOS 17.7.2 in November, incorporating significant security fixes. This continues to provide users with a secure experience, even if they choose not to upgrade to iOS 18.
