Apple’s Most Anticipated TV+ Film of the Year Featured During the Super Bowl

Apple TV+ has been overhauling its film strategy, moving away from large theatrical releases and hefty budgets. Nonetheless, there remains one movie that the company is investing significantly in: the summer release featuring Brad Pitt in an F1 film. Check out the exhilarating teaser that premiered during the Super Bowl.

F1 movie represents Apple’s most ambitious theatrical effort to date

While Apple TV+ has seen success with its growing roster of television shows, the film division struggled throughout 2024.

Both Argylle and Fly Me to the Moon received substantial theatrical promotion but ended up as significant box office flops.

This prompted Apple to cancel the anticipated theatrical release of Wolfs and transition to a debut on Apple TV+, disappointing the creative team involved. However, the film reportedly performed well on the streaming platform.

According to insider reports, Apple has decided to adopt a Netflix-inspired approach, focusing primarily on direct-to-streaming films while limiting the production of big-budget theatrical releases to just one or two each year.

F1 Brad Pitt

This year, F1 stands as that marquee project. It marks Apple’s significant move into the summer blockbuster arena.

Featuring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick, the film is set for a major theatrical release on June 27.

Therefore, it was fitting that Apple unveiled a sneak preview during the Super Bowl. Here’s the newly released teaser trailer.

Following its theater release this summer, Apple plans to make F1 available on Apple TV+ later in the year, possibly in the fall or around the holidays.
