Bentley Motors had its most successful year in 2020, recording the highest number of sales. As such, the Bentley Continental GT 2022 has been unveiled in a bid to keep up the momentum.
The famous British luxury car brand revealed the latest performance version on Tuesday. The Bentley Continental GT is the Volkswagen-owned company’s face. It is also the company’s best model as far as sales are concerned. Bentley is referring to the model as their most capable and performance-oriented car ever.
Features Of The New Bentley Continental GT
The expected price tag is around $274,900. It will be available on the market in the third financial quarter in the United States and Europe. Other markets will have to wait till the next quarter of the year.
The two-sitter performance car houses a 12-cylinder 6-liter engine. It has a rating of 650 horsepower with a torque capability of 664 foot-pounds. The car takes three and a half seconds to hit 60 mph from rest. 208 mph is the top speed of the GT 2022 Speed, as per official sources. The Speed version has additional high-performance tuning and parts compared to the GT and the convertible.
Mathias Rabe, the engineering head at Bentley, called the new Bentley Continental GT the summit in grand touring. Adrian Hallmark, the CEO, added that the engine choice is a huge break from the usual 6.75-liter and W12 powertrains. He added that Bentley believes that V8 engines are preferable in terms of performance when coupled with an electric system.
Bentley sold a record 11,206 units last year. This was despite their factories being shut down for more than seven weeks due to the pandemic. The standard Bentley Continental GT and the convertible model made up 39% of the company’s sales.
