Bigscreen Releases New VR Headset

Bigscreen, a Los Angeles-based virtual reality platform, has expanded into hardware with the release of the Beyond headset, which the firm claims is the thinnest and lightest VR headgear in the world at less than an inch at its narrowest point.

We came up with new technologies to improve convenience, and we made high-end parts like OLED microdisplays and pancake optics to deepen the experience. Bigscreen Beyond is the result of our dedication to creating both the best possible hardware and the best possible software for the Bigscreen movie-watching experience.

Bigscreen’s VR Headset Is Small In Size

The headset weighs 127 g (4.5 oz) by itself but may go up to 185 g (6.5 oz) in response to specific client needs. Its dimensions are 24–49.2 mm thick, 143.1 mm long, and 52.4 mm broad (0.9–1.9 x 5.6 x 2 in); 0.9–1.9 x 5.6 x 2 in.

With at least one SteamVR base station, players may access all six degrees of freedom in The Beyond thanks to built-in SteamVR tracking that monitors position and orientation in all three dimensions. The SteamVR controllers and peripherals, in addition to hundreds of Steam VR games and apps, are reported to be compatible with the headgear when connected to a Windows PC through a wire. Devices like the HTC Vive and the Tundra tracker allow users to accomplish full-body tracking.

Each headset is made to order after a 3D scan is taken of the user’s face and eye location using an iPhone XR (or newer) camera; however, Android devices are not currently supported. So that the optics are properly aligned for each user, light leakage is prevented, and the user’s weight is distributed evenly, Bigscreen may make a washable bespoke face cushion. The magnetically attached prescription lenses are an optional extra for glasses wearers.
