Carpool Karaoke Returns to Apple TV+ with an Hour-Long Christmas Special

Carpool Karaoke Returns to Apple TV+ with an Hour-Long Christmas Special

Initially a popular segment on James Corden’s late-night show, Carpool Karaoke evolved into a standalone multi-season series, first airing on Apple Music and later transitioning to Apple TV. Now, it’s making a comeback with an hour-long Christmas special available to subscribers of both Apple TV+ and Apple Music.

Featuring Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Chappell Roan in ‘A Carpool Karaoke Christmas’

A Carpool Karaoke Christmas is now accessible to audiences in most regions, with a complete global release on December 20.

This festive special showcases three renowned female artists:

  • Lady Gaga
  • Dua Lipa
  • Chappell Roan

Taking the wheel this time is Zane Lowe, host of Apple Music Radio and one of the most recognizable faces associated with Apple Music.

It would have been a delightful surprise to see James Corden return to host. While he does kick off the special, he ultimately hands over the reins to Zane Lowe. Given Lowe’s interviewing prowess, I anticipate that the special will still be enjoyable despite Corden’s absence.

Here’s a brief overview of the special from Apple:

With Corden passing the keys to Lowe, a respected interviewer and familiar voice amongst top artists, he jumps into the driver’s seat for this festive edition of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series.” The episode features Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and Chappell Roan singing beloved Christmas classics like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and Wham!’s “Last Christmas,” along with their signature hits, including Lady Gaga’s chart-topping “Die With A Smile,” Dua Lipa’s number one single “Houdini,” and Chappell Roan’s breakout anthem “Good Luck, Babe!” As a holiday surprise, Zane Lowe and Lady Gaga also unveiled a unique rendition of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” on Apple Music and other major music platforms.

You can stream the new A Carpool Karaoke Christmas special right now if you hold an active subscription to Apple TV+ or Apple Music.

DMN’s Perspective

The special runs just under an hour, which is considerably longer than the traditional Carpool Karaoke segments. However, with a radio host and skilled interviewer at the helm alongside three of today’s most powerful musical talents, I believe that extended runtime will be well justified.
