ChatGPT Now Enables Image and Voice Message Support on WhatsApp

In December, OpenAI announced a new integration with WhatsApp which allows users to engage with ChatGPT directly through the Meta-owned messaging platform. Now, OpenAI is enhancing this integration by adding support for images and voice messages in ChatGPT on WhatsApp.

This update has been officially confirmed by OpenAI and is now accessible to all users. Beyond just text messages, users can now send images for inquiries and communicate with ChatGPT through voice messages on WhatsApp. To initiate a conversation with ChatGPT, simply start a chat with the phone number 1-800-242-8478.

With this development, OpenAI aims to broaden the accessibility of ChatGPT, making it easier for users who may not have the app installed on their devices. Additionally, in December, OpenAI introduced a ChatGPT phone service for users in the US, allowing individuals to call the chatbot when they’re offline. The phone number for this service is the same as that of the WhatsApp integration.

OpenAI is actively working on introducing a variety of new features for ChatGPT, its AI chatbot. Just last month, the platform rolled out a feature called Tasks, which transforms the app into a to-do list complete with reminders. This feature is currently in beta testing.

Regarding the WhatsApp integration, OpenAI has indicated that linking an OpenAI account with the messaging app is not yet possible. However, the company suggests that this capability will be available “soon” for Free, Plus, and Pro users.

The ChatGPT application can be downloaded for free from the iOS App Store, while the Mac version is available on OpenAI’s official website. WhatsApp for iPhone can also be downloaded for free from the App Store.
