Clubhouse, the invite-only app for audio chats, is making it more lucrative for creators on the platform. The platform is now offering an option to receive payments directly from the viewers. This means that creators will be receiving their full reward for their content, without any deductions.
The Exciting Prospect Of Clubhouse
In a blog post on Monday, Clubhouse made the announcement. It stated that the platform is agreeing to work together with Stripe. Stripe is a startup that focuses on processing payments. The partnership will introduce direct payments to the app. This was so far absent from the platform. The company continued that the decision was in accordance with their intention to think of creators first.
The post stated that the aim of Clubhouse is to provide creators a space to build their impact, audience, and community. As such, with the recent expansion of the platform, it is important for the company to synchronize their model of business with the creators’ – that is, enabling them to earn more and thrive.
However, every creator will not have access to the feature right from the beginning. Clubhouse stated that payments will be rolled out in groups, beginning with a test group consisting of a few creators. Reportedly, not a single cent will be taken from the payments by Clubhouse and the creators will get the full amount.
This tool for monetization will be the first of its kind for the application‘s infrastructure. It will enable users to select their favorite creator and “Send Money”. On entering the payment details, users can then transfer cash directly through Stripe.
The decision is apparently the latest step in Clubhouse’s plan to grow its community of influencers and creators. Basically, the platform is providing an incentive to staying and creating on their platform. However, the platform already has quite a few rivals cropping up, and this step would do nicely in staying ahead of the competition.
