Developers Can Now Submit Applications for Feature Spotlights on Apple’s App Store

Apple showcases numerous apps on the App Store, which operates with an editorial team dedicated to selecting top apps for users. Although transparency was previously limited regarding the selection process, this is evolving as developers can now apply to be highlighted on the App Store.

This new opportunity arises with the recently launched “Featuring Nominations” feature in App Store Connect, the management platform for apps on Apple devices. According to the company (via TechCrunch), developers now have the ability to nominate new app releases or updates for consideration by the App Store team.

All requests will be evaluated by Apple. If a nomination is accepted, the developer will be notified, and the app will receive exposure in the Today tab of the App Store. Additionally, developers can request that Apple promote special events related to their games.

“Share your app or game’s upcoming features and content for potential App Store highlights through the new Featuring Nominations in App Store Connect. Submit a nomination to inform our team about a new launch, in-app features, or additional functionalities,” the company states.

Earlier this week, Apple also revamped the App Store Connect interface for iOS, introducing a host of new features, including tools to create promotional assets for platforms like Instagram. This follows a significant update to TestFlight last month, which also brought a refreshed design.

App Store Connect for iOS is available for free on the App Store, compatible with iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later.
