The highly anticipated sequel to Apple TV+’s most popular film, Wolfs, will not be happening. Despite the success of the original, plans for a follow-up have reportedly fallen through.
Director Jon Watts confirms Wolfs 2 is not moving forward
This fall, George Clooney and Brad Pitt starred in the most watched film on Apple TV+. Prior to its release in September, a sequel was announced with Jon Watts, the director of the first film, set to helm the project.
However, just a few months later, Watts has stated that Wolfs 2 will not be progressing.

In an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub while promoting his new Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew, Watts shared what lies ahead for him and clarified what is no longer in the pipeline, stating: “I don’t know what I’m directing next, and I don’t think there’s going to be a Wolfs sequel.”

The sequel to Wolfs always seemed uncertain.
While the first film garnered significant viewership for Apple, the sudden adjustments to its theatrical strategy did not bode well for the collaboration with the involved creatives.
Initially, Wolfs was slated for a wide theatrical release, but just weeks prior to its debut, Apple announced a major change in plans.
Instead of a broad theatrical rollout, Wolfs would have limited theatrical screenings before its availability on Apple TV+.
This change was revealed in a press release announcing the sequel—seemingly an effort to offset the unfavorable news.
It has been noted that for Clooney, Pitt, and director Watts, theatrical support played a significant role in their decision to partner with Apple. The tech company’s last-minute decision likely compromised its rapport with the creative team.
Despite having a strong record with television series, Apple has encountered challenges in establishing a successful film strategy. Reports indicate that the company plans for many of its films to debut directly on Apple TV+ with minimal theatrical showcases—akin to Netflix’s approach. A notable upcoming exception is 2025’s F1, which Apple is positioning as its first genuine summer blockbuster.
