Those who have played the Final Fantasy 16 demo seem to have connected with it deeply. The introductory part of the game offers more than two hours of action, and it concludes with a unique combat-based mode. Overall, the demo’s reception has been overwhelmingly good. A short Google search turns up a ton of raving streams, videos, and reviews, indicating that Square Enix may have a hit on its hands.
Naturally, we conducted a poll on Push Square to get reader feedback on the demo. Without intending to boast, our polls have been fairly popular in recent years, but this one garnered over 8,000 votes, with the majority of respondents stating that they simply adored the Final Fantasy XVI demo.
Final Fantasy 16 Has Fans Super Excited
The claim that Final Fantasy 16 has part of “Final Fantasy 14’s DNA” in its characters and setting is intriguing, especially because both games share Naoki Yoshida and other important developers. It’s also rather surprising to hear that it’s “so much like Game of Thrones,” given that Yoshida himself claimed that seeing the HBO adaptation was a must for all game developers in a recent Eurogamer article.
It’s very obvious from these initial reactions that Square Enix put a lot of effort into Final Fantasy 16 and that it’s paying off, especially if people are puking (a victory is a win). This kind of almost universal acclaim for a demo is quite uncommon, but that’s the impression that players of Final Fantasy 16’s demo are giving off so far.
The demo for Final Fantasy 16 lasts approximately two and a half hours and concentrates on the initial chapter of the new game. On June 22, you’ll even be able to continue carrying over your progress into the finished game.
