Four Compelling Reasons to Choose the M4 iPad Pro as Your Laptop Replacement

Four Compelling Reasons to Choose the M4 iPad Pro as Your Laptop Replacement

For nearly a decade, I’ve relied on the iPad Pro as my primary computer. Here are four compelling reasons to consider the M4 iPad Pro as an alternative to your laptop.

#1: Enhanced Focus with iPadOS

While some may argue that the Mac outperforms the iPad with greater capabilities, the iPad excels in promoting focus.

iPadOS presents various multitasking options, yet I often prefer working with just a single app displayed.

Using one app prominently and accessing others via Slide Over as needed greatly enhances productivity.

Although the Mac allows apps to be full-screen and minimizes distractions, the iPad is fundamentally designed for single-app focus, and it fulfills that role superbly.

#2: Genuine Portability with Cellular

Depending on your routine, cellular capability might be considered unnecessary or utterly essential.

For me, it’s indispensable.

I appreciate the flexibility to work anytime, anywhere, without depending on an unreliable hotspot or public Wi-Fi. Often, I’ll work from the car while my wife drives, or when I’m on the move.

Recently, after landing at an airport, with my wife and son momentarily stepping into the restroom, I effortlessly retrieved my iPad and completed a few tasks before continuing with my day.

Having my device consistently connected, just as with my iPhone, is a significant advantage.

#3: Versatile Two-in-One Device

Nowadays, my M4 iPad Pro predominantly remains in ‘laptop mode’ tucked within the Magic Keyboard. However, I have previously utilized the iPad flexibly as both a tablet and a laptop for distinct tasks.

The iPad serves as a remarkable two-in-one device, offering far more than a typical laptop can provide.

The presence of a touch screen is a major benefit. Being able to lift the ultra-slim 5.1-mm iPad Pro off its Magic Keyboard and use it as an exemplary tablet is an appealing feature.

Plus, integrating accessories like the Apple Pencil Pro further enhances its capabilities.

#4: Consistent Experience across iPhone and iPad

If you’re perusing this, it’s highly likely that you already own an iPhone, which grants the iPad a distinct advantage for iPhone users.

Essentially, iPadOS operates in a manner highly similar to iOS.

This similarity played a significant role in my choice to embrace the iPad fully. Utilizing my iPhone and iPad as my main devices offers a cohesive and straightforward experience due to their likeness.

I can access the same applications on both devices and enjoy a uniform experience. The Home Screens, Lock Screens, Control Center, and widgets function identically across both the iPhone and iPad.

As someone who tends to embrace minimalism, I find tremendous mental clarity in predominantly using what’s essentially one operating system.

The iPad Might Not Fit Everyone’s Needs, But It Could Be Ideal for You

That being said, the iPad isn’t necessarily the ideal laptop substitute for everyone. Many users have developed years of muscle memory with the Mac and appreciate its automations and customizations, making it feel like a powerhouse for them.

Furthermore, several of the professional tools available on the Mac simply do not exist on the iPad. Transitioning to a completely new application or system can be quite challenging.

However, if the reasons mentioned resonate with you, there’s a good chance that you would appreciate giving the M4 iPad Pro a serious consideration.
