Get Ready: Five New Apple Products Expected Early 2025

As we approach the start of 2025, Apple is gearing up for a series of impactful product launches. Here, we highlight five new devices anticipated to make their debut in early 2025.

M4 MacBook Air

M4 MacBook Air

Apple’s most sought-after laptop is about to receive a significant upgrade. Here’s what the new MacBook Air will likely feature in early 2025:

  • M4 processor
  • Standard 16GB RAM
  • Optional nano-texture display
  • 12MP Center Stage camera
  • Enhanced battery life anticipated with M4
  • Classic design available in 13-inch and 15-inch variants

This update is expected to be a robust enhancement for the MacBook Air, with a release likely in March, aligning with the launch of the M3 MacBook Air in early 2024.

iPhone SE 4

The next iPhone that should be on everyone’s radar is the iPhone SE 4, anticipated to launch in March.

This new model will likely include:

  • A design reminiscent of the iPhone 14, featuring OLED and no Home Button
  • Face ID and a notch
  • The A18 chip, which recently debuted in the iPhone 16
  • Support for Apple Intelligence, typically exclusive to the Pro models
  • 8GB RAM
  • A 48MP primary camera, similar to the one in the iPhone 16
  • USB-C connectivity
  • The introduction of Apple’s first in-house 5G modem

All of this at an attractive price, likely under $499.

‘HomePad’ smart display

HomePod with display concept

One of the products I’m eagerly anticipating is the upcoming ‘HomePad’ smart display from Apple.

Mark Gurman recently provided extensive insight into this new product in a Bloomberg article, highlighting its potential to revitalize Apple’s Home product roster. Expected features include:

  • Emphasis on Siri, Communication, and Home automation
  • Compatibility with Safari, Music, Notes, and various other Apple applications, but without an App Store
  • Touchscreen capabilities, primarily controlled by voice through Apple Intelligence’s new App Intents
  • A new operating system blending watchOS and iOS StandBy mode with a dynamic user interface that adapts to the distance of the user
  • Physical dimensions comparable to two stacked iPhones, featuring a 6-inch display
  • Built-in speakers, FaceTime camera, and battery
  • Wall-mount and speaker base options for various spaces like desks, kitchens, and nightstands
  • Heightened security features along with a video/audio intercom system integrating with other smart devices
  • Customizable Home Screen featuring classic Apple widgets and Home controls
  • Integration with video doorbells and security cameras, complete with alert functionalities

I’m excited to see Apple’s renewed efforts in the Home product space. Gurman notes that the HomePad is slated for a March release, although some reports suggest it might be postponed.

iPad, 11th generation

Apple reportedly planning to launch iPad 11 in early 2025 with iPadOS 18.3

Following a lackluster year for iPads in 2023, Apple initially planned to refresh its entire iPad lineup in 2024. We received new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini models, but the base iPad remained stagnant.

However, in early 2025, the iPad will make a comeback as the 11th generation model. Details are scarce, but it is expected to feature a faster A-series chip, likely paired with 8GB of RAM supporting Apple Intelligence. Additionally, it might include Apple’s latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networking technology.

Overall, it seems to be a standard evolutionary update for Apple’s entry-level iPad.

Wildcard: Apple Watch SE 3, M3 iPad Air, Home products

Apple Watch SE

Lastly, there are various other Apple products that may complement the company’s early 2025 launches. While some might not arrive until mid-year or beyond, it’s likely that at least one will be part of Apple’s initial product rollout.

The last Apple Watch SE was launched in 2022, making it over two years old now. Leading up to Apple’s September 2024 event, rumors circulated about a potential SE 3 launch that never came to fruition.

Typically, new Apple Watch SE models are released in September, but two factors suggest that the new SE could launch in March or April instead.

  1. If the device targeted September 2024 but was delayed, Apple would have little reason to postpone it for an entire year.
  2. A release of the Watch SE could synergize well with the iPhone SE 4 launch.

Regarding the iPad Air, Apple updated this device in May with the M2 chip, but rumors indicate that an M3 refresh may be on the horizon. While we may need to wait until around May, the timing remains uncertain, and details about the new model are scant.

Two additional possibilities for early 2025 include the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. Although specific timelines have not been confirmed, Apple could align these product launches with the HomePad as part of a broader Home product strategy.

Apple’s early 2025 products: wrap-up

Apple’s plans are subject to change, but if these five or more products launch in the early months of 2025, it will create a particularly strong entry for the company this year. All this anticipation builds up to what will undoubtedly be an exciting WWDC and fall product launch season.
