Google Chrome Will Soon Release A New Delete Button

As far as we can tell, Google Chrome for Android will soon be getting a new privacy option. Users will be able to erase the last 15 minutes of their browsing history with a single click. Though it’s not official yet, a flag was detected in Chromium Gerrit, so it might be released soon.

9to5Google reports that the flag in Gerrit does not yet reveal whether or not this information will include browser and account history. To what extent it will truly be able to remove things when it is finally deployed is, however, a mystery.

Google Chrome Will Have A New Delete Button

This is a neat feature, but it’s not brand new. Earlier this year, Google implemented a similar function into its Android app, allowing users to instantly and permanently erase all of their search and account histories with a single tap. In a pinch, you can clear your history of the previous 15 minutes with the click of a button, rather than sifting through menus.

It’s great to see Google Chrome provide additional privacy settings, even if not everyone will utilize them. If you’re the kind that doesn’t want to leave a digital footprint, you have the option of using Chrome’s Incognito Mode or switching to a privacy-focused browser that doesn’t save any of your data. And if you want to take things to the next level of security with a multi-layered strategy, a virtual private network (VPN) can be worth the investment.

This functionality has recently been spotted in Chromium Gerrit, but there is no guarantee that it will be included in the final version of Google Chrome for Android. Of course, Chrome can be installed on any device running Google’s Android or Apple’s iOS operating systems if you’re interested in giving it a try.
