Google Shopping For Mobile To Be Discontinued In Coming Weeks

For users of the mobile version of Google Shopping, the time has come to turn to the pc version. Reportedly, Google is going to shut down the app’s version for Android and iOS in the upcoming weeks.

The History Of Google Shopping

XDA Developers was the first to spot the hints for the discontinuation. The latest version of the Google Shopping app had hinted so in its code. The app enables users to browse thousands of sellers and make purchases via the Google account. 9to5Google later confirmed the news.

However, the app is going to function till June. Moreover, Google Shopping, the service, is not ending. It will still be available on the pc as well as in the search engine’s Shopping tab.

A spokesperson from Google stated that Google will cease to support the Google Shopping app in the upcoming weeks. He added that all features of the app are accessible via the tab for Shopping as well. As such, the company will develop features for the tab and other surfaces by Google. This includes the default Google app. The final objective remains to make it easier for users to browse and shop for their desired products,

The report by 9to5Google stated that there was a message informing some users of the discontinuation. It came with the version 59 update. The message read that the app is not available but users can continue their shopping on the website.

It is not a very big loss as the Google shopping app does not offer much more than what is there on the website. However, this similarity is not very characteristic of the company. Be that as it may, this is another dedicated app from Google to bite the dust after Google Hangouts.
