Gurman: Apple Set to Integrate PlayStation VR Controller Support with Vision Pro

As noted in Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple is gearing up to support standard VR game controllers on the Apple Vision Pro and has reached out to Sony to initiate this collaboration. This enhancement is expected to boost the gaming aspect of the Vision Pro, an area that needs improvement.

Gurman indicates that a future iteration of visionOS will include compatibility for third-party hand controllers, although a concrete timeline has yet to be revealed:

Apple is currently engaged in a significant initiative to incorporate third-party hand controllers into the device’s visionOS software and has collaborated with Sony Group Corp. to realize this objective.

Additionally, reports suggest that Apple is keen on collaborating with Sony to integrate PlayStation VR2 controllers, and progress is being made on this front:

This year, Apple approached Sony, and both parties agreed to enhance the Vision Pro with support for the PlayStation VR2 hand controllers. Inside Sony, this has been a lengthy project, and Apple has also consulted with third-party developers about incorporating this support into their games.
