As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is poised to launch its revamped Mail app for Mac users shortly, coinciding with the release of macOS 15.4. The new Mail app was first introduced for iPhones back in December with the release of iOS 18.2, but it has yet to roll out on other platforms.
Interestingly, we have already caught a glimpse of the new Mail app designed for macOS. During the announcement of the new M4 Macs in October, Apple provided a sneak peek of the updated Mail app, which had already been previewed for iPhone users at WWDC. The lack of information regarding its arrival on macOS was unexpected at the time.
In December, the rollout of iOS 18.3 and the beta version of macOS 15.3 began. While macOS 15.3 introduced Genmoji, it did not include the new Mail app, leaving many users curious about its launch date.
However, Gurman mentions that this will soon change with the arrival of macOS 15.4, which is anticipated to enter beta testing shortly and launch in April:
There’s also a more subtle feature launching in April: the updated Mail app for Mac will leverage AI to prioritize emails and categorize them into different inboxes. Currently, iPhone and iPad users benefit from this feature — which is fantastic — but Mac users have been left out. This will be addressed in macOS 15.4, as I am informed. To clarify, the feature organizes emails into main categories along with sections for transactions, promotions, updates, and all other email.
Gurman notes that while the new Mail app is set for iPad users, it hasn’t yet launched in iPadOS 18.2 or 18.3. We hope to see its introduction soon for iPad users with the impending iPadOS 18.4 release. We’ll just have to wait and see.
