Apple has unveiled the second public beta of iOS 18.3, making the latest iteration available to public beta testers. Here’s what’s included.
What’s New in iOS 18.3 Public Beta 2
The initial iOS 18.3 public beta was released in mid-December before Apple took a holiday hiatus. Now that the team is back in action, we can expect a more frequent rollout of new beta versions.
The first beta laid the groundwork for integrating compatible robotic vacuums into the Home app.
With beta 2, a new enhancement has emerged: the ability to repeat calculations in the Calculator app.
iOS 18 brought significant updates to the Calculator application, but it also included a regrettable regression. The ability to hit the equals button multiple times for successive calculations was removed.
With the arrival of iOS 18.3 beta 2, Apple has reinstated this function, allowing users to perform repeated calculations once again.
This beta version also includes several bug fixes and performance improvements, although it is mostly short on major new features.
How to Install the Public Beta
Users currently enrolled in the public beta can access today’s beta 2 update by navigating to Settings ⇾ Software Update on your iPhone.
If you’re new to the public beta, you’ll need to join Apple’s free Beta Software Program to register your device. After enrollment, the software update will appear in the Settings app.
Overall, iOS 18.3 is shaping up to be a relatively minor update. Following the feature-rich releases of 18.1 and 18.2 late last year, it seems Apple is opting for a simpler approach as we anticipate the upcoming iOS 18.4, expected in April.
