Apple has introduced iOS 18.3 public beta 1 today, providing a sneak peek into the forthcoming software update for iPhones for those enrolled in Apple’s beta program. Here’s what users can anticipate from this release.
iOS 18.3 beta minimal on new features…for the moment
iOS 18.3 initially became available in beta form on Monday exclusively for developers. Today’s public beta maintains the same build number as the initial release, which gives us a clear idea of what to expect.
And what is there to expect? Not much.
iOS 18.3 is rather sparse when it comes to new visible features or modifications. The most significant finding so far is Apple preparing to support robot vacuums in the Home app.
In general, aside from a few minor UI adjustments and bug fixes, that sums up beta 1.
The relative lack of changes in this update is somewhat expected.
With the holidays approaching, Apple’s engineering team will soon be taking an extended break, making it less than ideal if iOS 18.3 beta 1 posed any substantial issues for users.
We hope to see more exciting developments in beta 2 when it is released.
Apple’s collection of new beta software
Last week, Apple rolled out significant updates across its entire range of platforms, featuring major enhancements such as ChatGPT integration, Genmoji, and advanced Mac Virtual Display capabilities, among others.
Apple’s subsequent public beta releases now include:
- iOS 18.3
- iPadOS 18.3
- macOS Sequoia 15.3
- watchOS 11.3
- tvOS 18.3
Similar to iOS 18.3, the other updates have not introduced many noteworthy changes as of yet. The highlight being Genmoji arriving on Mac with macOS 15.3.
