Today, Apple unveiled the initial beta version of iOS 18.4, which introduces a significant enhancement to the Apple News app. The new Apple News+ Food section features an extensive collection of curated recipes from leading names in the culinary world.
The goal of incorporating recipes into Apple News+ is to address the frequent frustrations associated with typical recipe websites. The app eliminates the usual clutter and distractions found around online recipe instructions, offering a streamlined and straightforward interface.
The fresh “Food” section features a vast array of recipes, all organized in an easily digestible format. You’ll find straightforward instructions for each cooking step, necessary ingredients, and other essential details.
Additionally, the Recipe Catalog includes comprehensive filtering options that let you sort recipes by factors such as cooking time, dish type, and more. Multiple filters can be applied simultaneously to refine your search. Users also have the option to save recipes for future reference.

A particularly smart element of the recipe feature within Apple News is that whenever a recipe lists a time, users can tap that time to instantly set a timer on their iPhone. Furthermore, tapping on an ingredient within a recipe will show the specific amount required for that particular step.
In a recent Apple Newsroom announcement, the company stated:
Starting with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 in April, Apple News+ subscribers will gain access to Apple News+ Food, a brand-new section featuring tens of thousands of recipes along with articles on restaurants, healthy eating, kitchen essentials, and more, sourced from top culinary publishers like Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Good Food, and Serious Eats.
This new Food feature allows users to explore stories curated by Apple News editors, as well as browse, search, and filter through tens of thousands of recipes in the Recipe Catalog— with new recipes added daily. The beautifully designed format enhances the experience of reviewing ingredients and instructions, while a dedicated cooking mode brings step-by-step guidance to full screen. Users can also bookmark their favorite recipes for later access and enjoy offline availability.
Apple News+ Food is set to launch in April alongside iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4. While most content will be reserved for Apple News+ subscribers, the company will also offer select stories and recipes to the general public.
DMN’s Perspective
Say goodbye to the frustrating experience of sifting through countless Google results and poorly optimized recipes. This is a remarkably well-crafted feature from the Apple News+ team.
I appreciate Apple’s commitment to investing in Apple News and Apple News+. It has become one of my go-to apps on the iPhone, delivering news, puzzles, and now, recipes.
You can discover the new Apple News+ Food section by scrolling down the main “Today” tab in the app or by heading to the “Following” tab and selecting “Food.”
