iOS 18.4 Introduces RCS Support for Google Fi

Apple has introduced the latest beta of iOS 18.4, which brings RCS support to users of Google Fi. Since September, iPhone users on this Google MVNO have been anticipating this enhancement to messaging between Android and iOS devices.

With the release of iOS 18.4 beta 2, Google Fi subscribers will find an RCS Messaging toggle under Settings > Apps > Messages. The activation process may take a short while, showing a “Waiting for activation…” message.

Additionally, iOS 18.4 seems to extend support for MVNOs leveraging T-Mobile’s network across the United States.

When iOS 18 first launched in September, RCS functionality was limited to major U.S. carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon). Support for additional providers has been implemented in subsequent point releases.

Apple offers a support article titled “Wireless carrier support and features for iPhone in the United States and Canada,” which includes the current status of “RCS messaging.”

Users can expect iOS 18.4 to reach stable release in April. More beta versions with significant changes will be released in the coming weeks, and you can join the beta program now if interested.
