iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 Beta Versions Lack Updated Mail App

iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 Beta Versions Lack Updated Mail App

On Monday, Apple rolled out the initial betas of iOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 to users, shortly after the public launch of iOS 18.2. There isn’t much to report regarding new features in today’s beta updates, and unfortunately for Mac and iPad owners, iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 still lack the revamped Mail app.

The revamped Mail app has yet to make its way to Mac and iPad

With the release of iOS 18.2, Apple unveiled a new Mail app, which was previously previewed at WWDC 2024 in June. This redesigned Mail app features a modern appearance with intelligent email categorization, sorting your inbox into sections like Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions. Additionally, it enhances visibility regarding the sender of each email. However, this new app is exclusively available for iPhone users.

While Apple has not provided a timeline for the arrival of the new Mail app on iPad and Mac, marketing visuals for the M4 Macs released in October showcased the redesigned Mail app on macOS, hinting that this update will eventually be available on these devices.

Regrettably, the beta versions of iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 released today still present the Mail app in its previous form on both iPad and Mac. As this is only the first beta iteration, much can change before the final release, but it seems that the new Mail app interface may not come to iPad and Mac until iPadOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4, which are projected to launch in April 2025.

iOS 18.2 Mail app

This isn’t the first occasion Apple has staggered the release of new features across devices. For example, the Genmoji feature, allowing users to create personalized emojis, was introduced for iPhone and iPad users with iOS 18.2, but it only became available on Mac with the release of macOS 15.3 beta 1.

Moreover, the newly designed Mail app has faced criticism from some users dissatisfied with its categorization feature (fortunately, there is an option to revert to the previous design), meaning these users are likely grateful not to encounter the same issues on their other devices.

Public availability of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 is anticipated sometime between January and February.
