Reports have surfaced regarding the anticipated release of new iPads and the iPhone SE 4 in the first half of 2025. While Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman initially indicated a spring launch, he has now clarified that Apple aims to unveil the new iPads and iPhone SE 4 “by April.”
Upcoming iPhones and iPads
An insider on X with a reliable history suggested last month that these new devices will debut with iOS 18.3 pre-installed, as Apple has been enhancing the software to accommodate the new hardware. Typically, updates labeled “.3” for iOS and iPadOS roll out in late January.
However, this does not imply that the new iPads and iPhone SE 4 will be announced in conjunction with the iOS 18.3 release. Gurman indicated that the announcement will occur later. Spring in the northern hemisphere commences in mid-March, making it likely that Apple will reveal these products between March and April, aligning with past practices.
In the previous year, the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air launched in May alongside iPadOS 17.4. Apple has confirmed its intention to publicly release iOS 18.4 sometime in April, introducing Apple Intelligence for non-English languages for the first time. As the new products are expected to come packaged with the “.3” software, we have a clearer timeline for their launch.
Speculations suggest that Apple intends to unveil at least three fresh iOS devices in spring 2025: the iPhone SE 4, iPad 11, and a refreshed iPad Air. The iPhone SE 4 will resemble an iPhone 14, featuring a single rear camera and integrating the A18 chip from the iPhone 16. On the other hand, the iPad 11 is anticipated to receive a performance upgrade with a more powerful chip, likely the A17 Pro, to facilitate Apple Intelligence functionality.
Details regarding the new iPad Air remain vague since this model was last upgraded with the M2 chip last year. Expect all of these products to be revealed together during a special event or through a series of announcements.
