Leaked iPhone 17 Air Design Features Sleek Ultra-Thin Edges and Rear Camera Bar

Jon Prosser from FrontPageTech has released another video showcasing his vision for the upcoming ‘iPhone 17 Air’, following his earlier coverage of the anticipated iPhone 17 Pro design. This new model is set to be a bold addition to the iPhone lineup.

Replacing the iPhone 16 Plus, the Air is positioned as a mid-range device featuring a completely redesigned, ultra-thin chassis. Many sources have pointed out that this model will come with a single rear camera, possibly reflecting a design compromise. Nevertheless, the renders indicate that this single lens will be integrated into a full-width protruding bar shape.

While we can’t confirm the accuracy of these renders, they do appear to align with previous insights from outlets like The Information and Bloomberg. One of the main debates revolves around the design of the rear camera module.

These new renders depict a rectangular camera bar with the lens located on the left, contrasting with earlier reports that suggested the camera would be centered at the top of the device.

The iPhone 17 Air, sometimes referred to as the iPhone 17 Slim, is expected to feature an extremely slender profile. Its thickness is projected to be between 5.5mm and 6mm, not including the rear camera protrusion.

In order to achieve this ultra-thin profile, the specifications may not reach the highest standards. For instance, the single rear camera, rated at 48 megapixels, will likely not support the optical zoom capabilities seen in current multi-camera models.

Earlier reports have also indicated that the front camera quality may be inferior, along with subpar integrated speakers. Moreover, the device is expected to be powered by the standard A19 chip, as opposed to the A19 Pro.

Apple has consistently faced challenges in launching a successful fourth variant of the iPhone. The mini was shelved due to low demand, and the Plus model has not generated significant interest either. The Air represents Apple’s latest effort to create a distinctive option that stands out in the market.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether consumers will appreciate the trade-offs presented by the iPhone 17 Air, but it’s set to offer a striking new aesthetic when it launches in the fall.
