Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, hinted at an upcoming product announcement today, and it appears almost certain that it will be for the fourth-generation iPhone SE – which some sources suggest could be titled the iPhone 16E.
A reliable leaker has also hinted that the new name will indeed be the iPhone 16E (or 16e), though this information comes from a somewhat indirect source …

Earlier in 2023, we learned that the iPhone SE 4 would finally abandon its outdated design and adopt a style similar to the iPhone 14.
Just under a year ago, this was seemingly confirmed through CAD renderings, and subsequent reports hinted at a higher price, an OLED display, Apple Intelligence support, and an Apple modem – all of which seem to create an appealing option for those who don’t need all the flagship features.
Or iPhone 16E
Things remained quiet until last month when a leaker suggested Apple might name the new device the iPhone 16E, rather than sticking with the SE branding.
A brief debate among leakers occurred regarding whether the new model would feature a notch or a Dynamic Island, but the notch quickly became the favored option.
Today, leaker Majin Bu supported the iPhone 16E naming in a post that essentially serves as a third-party report.
Based on the latest information accessible online, it seems someone who has seen the packaging for the new iPhone SE 4 has indicated that the official name will be iPhone 16E.

Bu then made a rather peculiar statement:
Moreover, the design is anticipated to echo that of the iPhone 16, but without the Dynamic Island or capture button.
However, the aspects he mentions are what makes the two differ in design, leaving some ambiguity regarding what this could entail.

That comment likely indicates a new model within an existing lineup and hints that it’s the iPhone 16E, as that would be a new member of the iPhone 16 “family.”
