Back in 2018, we reviewed Lutron’s Serena line, which we appreciated for its design but not its cost of nearly $900 per window.
Regarding build quality, I’m thoroughly pleased with the aesthetics and fabric of the shades. The Serena Motorized Shades responded well and moved smoothly. While the motor isn’t silent enough to record audio in the same room while operating, it’s not disruptive during regular use.
The real challenge comes when trying to outfit an entire home with HomeKit-compatible windows using this option. For just one window, the price may be a barrier. For an entire residence, it might be wiser to include the expense in your home price!
In fact, when I calculated the cost of a Lutron system for my apartment, which features numerous floor-to-ceiling windows, the total came to an astonishing $22,000!
