Apple has officially launched new public beta versions across its software platforms, including macOS Sequoia 15.4, iPadOS 18.4, tvOS 18.4, and more. Here’s what you can look forward to with these updates.
How to Install Apple’s Latest Public Beta Releases
Before you can install the latest software, ensure that you are enrolled in Apple’s beta software program, which is free to register for at beta.apple.com.
If you’ve previously installed any public beta versions, you should find today’s updates in the Software Update section of your device’s Settings app.
Keep in mind that these are the initial beta updates for new software versions, so you may experience a variety of bugs and performance glitches on your devices.
New Features in macOS 15.4, iPadOS 18.4, and More

The first beta updates come with a wealth of new features, showcasing numerous enhancements that apply across multiple platforms, while some remain exclusive to certain devices.
Revamped Mail App: Apple Mail has received a significant overhaul, introducing inbox categorization on iPhone. These enhancements are now also available on Mac and iPad with macOS 15.4 and iPadOS 18.4.
Proximity Pairing for Macs: With iOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4, users can now swiftly set up a new Mac using their iPhone, similar to the existing functionality for iPhone and iPad.
Ambient Music Controls on iPad: iPadOS 18.4 introduces new controls in Control Center, offering four Ambient Music settings for playlists tailored to different moods: Chill, Productivity, Sleep, and Wellbeing. Users can select from preset playlists or utilize personalized selections.
Food Section for Apple News: Exclusively available on iPad (and iPhone), there’s a new food category for Apple News+ subscribers within the News app, providing access to tens of thousands of recipes facilitated by a streamlined in-app recipe interface.
AI-Powered Priority Notifications: Echoing features found in Apple Mail for messages, notifications can now be auto-sorted into categories of higher and lower importance. Alerts deemed most crucial by Apple Intelligence will appear at the top of your notification list.

Today’s updates also include various other enhancements:
- Apple Intelligence is now available in the EU for iPad users.
- iPadOS now allows you to select a default Translation app, with Navigation becoming a new default category in the EU.
- The Image Playground introduces a new Sketch style for creating unique images.
- Apple Podcasts now features two new widgets for your Library and Shows.
- Apple Intelligence adds support for many additional languages.
- Various minor UI tweaks and improvements have also been implemented.
