Macworld Claims Samsung Galaxy S25 Imitates Over a Dozen iPhone Features

The freshly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S25 has reportedly adopted over a dozen features from the iPhone, as discussed in Macworld, spanning everything from its slab-like design to Siri’s illuminated borders.

The article notes that both tech giants borrow ideas from each other, but implies that Samsung’s mimicry is somewhat more conspicuous …

Macworld’s Mahmoud Itani presents this argument, beginning with Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence integrates built-in ChatGPT alongside other options, including Google Gemini, which is on the horizon. A standout AI feature from Samsung is its infrastructure designed to accommodate third-party chatbots, starting with Google Gemini instead of its own Bixby AI assistant.

When you activate Gemini, a text box appears with a colorful glowing border—reminiscent of Siri. Samsung also demonstrated how the chatbot supports both text and voice inputs. Additionally, selecting text brings forth a UI strikingly similar to Apple’s Writing Tools, enabling users to proofread the selection, create tables, and more.

Itani continues by highlighting the capabilities to transcribe and summarize phone calls, perform user natural-language searches within the Photos app, and a function that bears a notable similarity to Image Playground.

Other mentioned features include the Now Bar, akin to Live Activities, and the option to utilize “cinematic audio” while recording videos.

DMN’s Perspective

There is certainly no denying that Samsung takes cues from Apple. One of its favored strategies is to quickly release its version of an upcoming iPhone feature as soon as it is rumored or leaked, allowing it to claim the title of “first,” while Apple takes time to refine its offering.

However, it is equally true that Apple adopts features from Samsung, as well as various tech advancements that multiple companies embrace once they are made available.

In the end, this competition is beneficial: the closer the rivalry, the more motivation each company has to develop the most effective implementation of new ideas.
