It appears that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is not pleased with employees leaking information from internal company meetings. The organization sent out a memo warning that individuals could be terminated for sharing internal communications – and, unsurprisingly, that memo was leaked soon after…
During the most recent all-hands meeting, Zuckerberg disclosed several sensitive topics. These included insights on the discontinuation of the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, modifications to hate-speech policies allowing for derogatory statements about LGBTQ+ individuals, and plans to lay off employees deemed low performers by the company.
In past meetings, Meta employees had the opportunity to publicly submit questions for discussion, enabling others to upvote their preferred inquiries. However, this year, The Verge reports that the voting system was not visible, and comments were disabled during the session.
Additionally, Zuckerberg indicated a shift towards being less transparent due to the constant leaking of his statements.
“We attempt to maintain openness, but every statement I make gets leaked. It’s frustrating.”
Following this, Meta’s security chief Guy Rosen circulated an internal memo emphasizing that leakers would face termination.
“We take leaks very seriously and will respond accordingly,” Rosen stated, adding that Meta “will implement appropriate measures, including firing, if leakers are identified.”
Naturally, that memo was leaked almost immediately as well.
