Microsoft Teases Spectacular Surface Update

Microsoft Surface was made to push beyond as many boundaries as possible. As such, not all devices have managed to fully utilize the technology. The ultra-capable Surface Laptop for official use is not nearly as unorthodox as the Surface Book, the first device that featured a screen that could be detached. However, they have all helped make returns to fund Microsoft’s vision.

Surface Duo, the device that is powered by Android is on the more spectacular side of the spectrum. It is among the most notable devices that have pushed the edge with Microsoft Surface. However, Microsoft has introduced the Surface to a whole new category for the Duo to tackle: gaming.

Microsoft Surface, Now For Gamers

The Cloud Gaming services that Microsoft’s Xbox offers come with a client created for Android. The service is quite popular among gamers. However, games that are made for consoles and controllers do not usually manage to offer the same experience on smaller touch-operated devices. As such, gamers have one of two choices to play the game: use the cramped controls on the screen or plug in an external controller.

Microsoft’s latest update for the Android client will now offer gamers a third option: enabling the use of another screen to house the controls. The Surface Duo comes with two screens. Simply propping it open and putting the controls on the bottom screen and the game at the top will give users an Xbox-like gaming experience quite easily.

However, the feature is only a beta which means there are very few games that support the feature. Users will also need to buy a $14.99 monthly subscription to access it. However, the update can work wonders for both the re-discovery of the Xbox gaming ecosystem as well as the Surface Duo.
