Now in time for the holidays, Americans could be closer to receiving the TikTok Shop feature.
If they want to sell goods directly to customers using the video-sharing app, US businesses may now sign up for TikTok Shop.
According to a statement on the official website, “TikTok Shop is a unique new shopping tool that enables merchants, brands, and creators to promote and sell items directly on TikTok through in-feed videos, Lives, and the product showcase tab.”
Only the UK and seven Asian areas now have access to the shopping option.
TikTok Shop Will Be Available Just In Time For The Holidays
Even while the website to register a company to trade on the site is operational in the US, not every business owner can use it. To use the app at this time, people wanting to register must give an “invitation code.”
The TikTok sign-up page states that merchant organizations must submit a US company registration document, while individual sellers require a passport or driver’s license issued in the US. After submitting, applicants should expect a response within a day or two.
According to a Semafor investigation, the app only invites a small number of enterprises to sign up; however, it’s not apparent which businesses were invited.
The program, which is owned by Bytedance, promised retailers who registered “greater quality traffic,” “better consumer experience,” and “seamless creator collaboration.” TikTok charges a fee for each transaction even though there is no fee to sign up, according to the website.
According to a Techcrunch story from June, the app started testing a “Shop” feed tab in Indonesia. It had previously worked with Shopify to introduce in-app shopping in 2021.
Sandie Hawkins, a former North America general manager, has been appointed to lead TikTok Shop US, according to a Financial Times article from Tuesday.
