Apple has recently released a new article and a video that illustrates the significant role the Mac played in the making of Severance. Be cautious of spoilers if you haven’t finished watching the season 2 finale yet.
Behind the Mac highlights Severance
In a fresh article on Apple Newsroom, Geoffrey Richman, one of the editors for Severance, shares insights on how the Mac was an essential tool for his editing tasks. This feature is part of the ongoing Behind the Mac series.
According to Richman, the advantages of opting for a Mac over a PC are clear.
“The Mac interface resonates with me much more than a PC,” he states. “I find the layout of the operating system to be far more intuitive. Transitioning between various applications is very swift on a Mac.”
This setup is particularly beneficial for work that doesn’t always occur at a single workstation. While Richman and the other editors primarily work remotely, he occasionally visits the set, which boasts an edit room equipped with an iMac. He also brings his MacBook Pro with him for easy access to edits when needed on location.
“I can switch between my laptop and my iMac, and I can work at the post-production facility or at Ben’s office, and as long as I’m logged into my account, everything I do is synchronized across all devices,” Richman explains, highlighting the seamless data sharing and collaboration made possible by iCloud and Continuity. “I could be lying in bed, have an idea, jot it down on my iPhone, and the next day it’s right there in the Notes app on my desktop. This aspect of the Mac is incredibly handy—I don’t have to worry about which device I’m using.”
Other noteworthy points from the article include:
- how the Mac simplifies multitasking during the editing process
- using AirPods Pro 2 for audio checks across iPhone and Mac
- organizing the grand finale’s marching band sequence
- and more
