In its first appearance on Geekbench, the “HMD Global Nokia G22” aroused speculation about upcoming enhancements to the OEM’s cheap line-up in 2023. Both this and the new code name “Sunfire” have been used to refer to the rumored future Android smartphone, however, neither has helped the gadget set the bar on fire upon its initial release.
The purported 2023 device contains a processor that appears to be the same Unisoc T606 seen in the G21, with 8 cores rated at 1.61GHz, resulting in poor single-core and multi-core scores.

However, the “G22” features 4GB of RAM at the very least, which may indicate that it will no longer provide the 3GB basic option that its likely predecessor did. The G21 still comes preloaded with even older software, while the G30 has just finished its first leak with Android 12.
Since Nokia has promised “two years of updated software” for each new device, the company probably has designs on marketing Android 14 as a G22-only feature. As a result, the G21 could be forced to spend its last days on Android 13. The Nokia G22 has been seen on Geekbench, suggesting that the Finnish smartphone company is about to introduce a new G-series model. According to the description, the forthcoming mobile device would use a Unisoc CPU and include 4GB of RAM.
The exact technical details of the future smartphone are currently unknown. MySmartPrice reports that the Geekbench listing for the Nokia G22 reveals the device would use an octa-core 1.8GHz Unisoc T606 CPU and Mali-G57 GPU. There will also be 4GB of RAM inside the smartphone. In terms of software, Android 12 with the default Android user interface will be preinstalled. The predecessor, Nokia G21, featured a 6.5-inch IPS LCD waterdrop notch screen with a 90-Hz refresh rate. It includes a 50MP primary camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP depth camera in its triple back camera configuration.
