The Vision Pro shows great promise as a gaming platform, yet much of this promise has yet to be fully realized. Today’s announcement from NVIDIA marks one of the early indications of change on the horizon.
Game streaming service to be fully optimized for Safari on visionOS
According to MacStories, NVIDIA has revealed that their game streaming solution, GeForce NOW, will soon be available on the Vision Pro, with the “latest app update, version 2.0.70, beginning to roll out later this month.”
From NVIDIA’s announcement:
In partnership with Apple, Meta, and ByteDance, NVIDIA is bringing GeForce NOW cloud gaming to Apple Vision Pro spatial computers, Meta Quest 3 and 3S, as well as Pico’s virtual and mixed-reality devices — all enhanced with NVIDIA technologies such as ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS… By the end of this month, users of these devices will have access to a vast library of games available for streaming through GeForce NOW by navigating to play.geforcenow.com in their browsers.
It appears that instead of a dedicated application for Vision Pro, NVIDIA will focus on updates to optimize GeForce NOW for effective usage within Safari on visionOS.
NVIDIA has stated that the Vision Pro and the other VR devices will “support gamepad-compatible titles,” allowing GeForce NOW Ultimate and Performance members to harness RTX and DLSS technologies in compatible games for enhanced visuals.
This development comes on the heels of a recent report by Mark Gurman suggesting that Apple and Sony are working together to enable true VR gaming controller support from PlayStation VR2 for Vision Pro. The gaming narrative surrounding Vision Pro is gradually expanding.

The journey of game streaming on Apple’s platforms has been tumultuous, largely due to App Store policies that once limited streaming applications.
However, nearly a year ago, Apple revised its App Store guidelines to permit game streaming apps explicitly. Although we haven’t yet witnessed a significant influx of developers transitioning to Apple platforms for game streaming, today’s announcement signifies promising potential for the future.
