While there are numerous third-party applications capable of automating lighting scenes using Philips Hue products, it has now been officially confirmed that the company will be rolling out this feature in their own app.
Users will have the capability to request AI-created scenes through voice commands or text, with examples like “Provide me with a scene for a garden party…”
Hueblog reported in October of the previous year that this feature was undergoing testing.
Artificial intelligence has become a fundamental component of technology, influencing various aspects of our lives. It’s plausible that Philips Hue may soon integrate AI into their offerings.
The company has been experimenting with an AI Playground aimed at generating suitable lighting scenes from a simple text input. Commands like “Set a scene for a children’s birthday party” or “Set a scene for a cozy breakfast” should yield the right ambiance.
Once it is released in the Hue app—though I do not have a specific launch date yet—it may initially come with limited capabilities. As per my insights, the AI feature will not be fully autonomous in scene creation but rather suggest existing scenes. You could use prompts like ‘What is the ideal scene for a winter evening’ to receive relevant recommendations.
The Verge has indicated that the company has confirmed the feature will launch sometime this quarter.
Philips Hue users will soon have the ability to generate their own AI-driven lighting scenes, as announced by the company on Tuesday.
The new generative AI lighting assistant from Philips Hue allows users to craft personalized lighting scenes tailored to occasions, moods, or styles. Users can input commands such as “Provide a scene for a garden party” via the Hue app, or utilize voice commands. The assistant will then either recommend scenes from the existing Philips Hue library or create new ones entirely. Moreover, it will enable users to adjust the settings of current lights, including brightness and color.
The announcement is briefly mentioned in a press release published today, but it lacks further specifics.
Philips Hue introduces its inaugural generative AI assistant within the Hue app, offering tailored lighting scenes based on mood, occasion, or style. Set to debut in 2025, the assistant allows users to issue text or voice commands to create ideal atmospheres, with feedback options to enhance its performance over time.
This feature will be compatible with all Hue lights.
