Twitch has recently banned the popular PogChamp emote on 6th January 2021, Wednesday. This primarily happened after the person shown in that has published tweets that were supposedly ‘encouraging further violence’ after the riot at Capitol, Washington DC.
Twitch made this announcement after Ryan Gutierrez or Gootecks made some inflammatory comments.
Tweets Inciting Violence Lead To PogChamp Removal
Gootecks is the person on whom the emote has been based upon. However, PogChamp has now faced a ban owing to the seditious tweets made by him regarding the insurgency that took place at Capitol Hill today.
Today, at the time of the legislative authorization of electoral votes regarding the declaration of Joe Biden to be the winner of the presidential election of the United States, 2020, numerous supporters of Donal Trump broke in.
These supporters of Trump had occupied the Capitol for a brief span of time. As a result, the Senators as well as the House legislators were forced to fence themselves inside the building or leave this site for their own safety purposes.
During this shocking incident, Gutierrez had made a tweet in which he stated the event at the Capitol and his statements seemed to have incited further violence at the time of takeover.
His tweet was considered so grave that Twitch took a very critical decision and informed an IGN spokesperson about their decision. The company has announced that they decided to eliminate PogChamp emote after the seditious statements made by the face himself which apparently provoked violence at the heart of Washington DC today.
The company has further added that they want the emotion as well as the utilization of Pog to remain longer. They said that the essence of PogChamp is certainly greater than the depicted person.
