Amazon Prime Video has emerged as a leading streaming platform, and it has recently undergone a significant update on the Apple TV to enhance the tvOS experience. Here’s what’s new and notable.
Latest Prime Video Update Introduces Enhanced tvOS Integration
The revamped Prime Video app is now accessible on all Apple TV 4K models as well as the Apple TV HD, featuring six key enhancements.
Here are the primary features highlighted by Amazon:
- Improved Scrolling: Utilizing the Siri Remote, users can navigate through the app using familiar gestures. A simple swipe in any direction allows for swift scrolling through numerous titles to locate the desired content.
- Enhanced Touchpad Gestures: Fast-forwarding and rewinding has never been easier with new touchpad gestures, enabling customers to slide to their preferred playback position effortlessly.
- Search Functionality: The in-app search feature now provides automatic suggestions as users type. Additionally, voice dictation can be used to expedite the search process significantly.
- Visual and Audio Effects: Users can experience a more immersive view with sound effects accompanying navigation and a parallax effect for enhanced visual appeal.
- Higher Resolution Images: The Apple TV version of Prime Video now showcases high-resolution images, allowing viewers to fully engage with their favorite movies or shows.
- Accessibility Features: Apple’s top-tier accessibility tools, such as VoiceOver, Hover Text, and Bold Text, are now integrated to improve the overall viewing experience.
I haven’t had the chance to try out the new app yet, but it seems like a remarkable update for Prime Video on the Apple TV.
The improved Siri Remote functionality, smoother gestures, quicker search capabilities, and more should contribute to a significantly more native tvOS experience compared to previous iterations by Amazon.
While I believe that the Apple TV app offers a superior experience for Apple TV+, it’s worth noting that you can also subscribe to and stream Apple TV+ directly through Amazon’s app.
