PS5 Plus Collection Will Remain Unchanged After PS Plus Revamp

Sony has finally revealed its updated game subscription service, which will compete with Microsoft’s all-conquering Game Pass, after months (if not years) of speculation. Sony is preserving the PlayStation Plus moniker as it merges PS Plus and PlayStation. Now into a three-tier subscription, but don’t anticipate new PS4 or PS5 titles to be added on the day of their release.

The cheapest grade is PlayStation Plus Essential, which is essentially the same as the existing edition of PS Plus. As long as you keep your subscription active, you’ll be able to claim two games every month to download and play.

PS5 And PS4 Tiers Will Stay The Same

Sony just announced three new levels for PlayStation Plus, which is receiving a facelift in June.

Existing subscribers will be upgraded to the Essential plan (which remains the same price). What does this mean for PlayStation Plus Collection, given that the Extra and Premium tiers provide access to nearly 400 PS4 and PS5 titles?

The PS Plus Collection, which debuted alongside the PS5 in November 2020, gave players access to 20 distinct PS4 games, including God of War (2018), Persona 5, and others. Thankfully, it does not appear that this will change. The PS Plus Collection will continue to exist, according to IGN senior editor and PlayStation lead Jonathon Dornbush.

All PS5 gamers with PlayStation Plus will be able to access the Collection in the same way they did before. The Essential tier of PlayStation Plus will cost $10 per month; the Extra tier will cost $15 per month and $100 per year, and the Premium tier will cost $18 per month and $120 per year. Premium tier users get access to cloud streaming and digital downloads of PS1, PS2, and PSP titles, as well as streaming of PS3 titles.

Though the new PlayStation Plus will not offer first-party launches on day one, according to PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, “things may change very rapidly.” In the next months, additional information about the numerous games featured with the service will be released.
