Audi is looking to increase its aim in the expanding electric vehicles market with their latest two compact EVs. They are Audi’s Q4 Sportback E-Tron and Q4 E-Tron. Audi had revealed the new cars on Wednesday with plans for making them available later on in 2021.
Q4 E-Tron: A More Affordable Option
The two SUVs powered by electricity have a much more affordable price tag than Audi’s flagship, the E-Tron. At the same time, the models do not lose out on features like the maximum range and other futuristic technology. The range is approximately 300 miles for the cars.
The latest Q4 E-Tron and its variant also indicate a shift in strategy from Audi. These are the first EVs that will be built on Volkswagen’s modular EV platform. The platform already powers every EV from Volkswagen as well as those of Seat and Skoda, as well as a collaboration project with Ford.
The latest Q4 E-Tron will retail from 41,900 euros while the Sportback variant will retail from 43900 euros. They are expected to be available for purchase in June, for Germany first, before going to the rest of Europe and later, finally arriving in the United States. The timing may be fortunate given President Biden’s push for EVs including an increased credit for federal tax.
The variants of the Q4 E-Tron have the teased large faux grille in the front and bodywork that is aggressive. The looks make them quite distinct from models from Mercedes or even Volkswagen. In size, it has dimensions of 15 feet x 6 feet x 5.4 feet. As such, the Q4 E-Tron is a little smaller than Tesla’s Model Y and the previous E-Tron.
By default, the car will come with a 55kWh battery that comes with the MEB. Audi claims that the cars can run on 349 km and 341 km respectively on a complete charge.
