Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Set to Recognize Songs Using Shazam

This week, Meta unveiled new enhancements for its smart glasses created in collaboration with Ray-Ban. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses will soon feature advanced AI functionalities and integration with Apple’s Shazam for song identification.

According to the company, the v11 software update for Ray-Ban Meta will incorporate Shazam, the music recognition app from Apple. When the update is available, users will simply need to use their voice and say, “Hey Meta, what song is this?” The glasses will then utilize Shazam to identify the song and provide the answer.

Meta expressed in a blog post, “We all experience that moment: You’re out enjoying the evening, and a great track comes on—but it’s either a new hit, an obscure track, or even a classic whose name or artist you can’t quite recall. Now, your glasses can handle this for you.”

This announcement follows earlier this year when Meta integrated Apple Music into the Ray-Ban smart glasses. With this feature, glasses owners can request Meta’s virtual assistant to play songs, playlists, albums, stations, or even seek out specific artists—all without any hands-on operation.

Additionally, the update will introduce several new AI capabilities to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Among these is Live AI, which allows users to share their visual experience in real-time so that Meta AI can assist them with everyday tasks. With Live AI, users can pose questions without having to say “Hey Meta” repeatedly.

Meta is also adding a Live Translation feature to its smart glasses. When conversing with someone speaking another language, users will hear translated responses through the speakers of the glasses. This feature was first hinted at publicly by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg earlier this year.

As per Meta, the rollout of the v11 software update will commence today for Ray-Ban Meta glasses users. However, the AI functions will only be available in beta for those enrolled in Meta’s Early Access Program.

If you are a Ray-Ban Meta owner, here’s how to update your smart glasses:

  1. Open the Meta View app on your mobile device
  2. Select the Settings menu
  3. Tap on the Your Glasses option
  4. Press Updates

Ensure your glasses are within reach, connected to your phone, and fully charged before beginning the update process.
