RCS Messaging on iPhone Grows: Here’s a List of All Supported US Carriers

With the release of iOS 18, Apple has incorporated RCS messaging support, a modern protocol that significantly enhances the messaging experience for users communicating between iPhone and Android devices. Unlike traditional SMS, RCS allows for read and delivery receipts, the ability to share larger files, and typing indicators—features that were previously unavailable. Initially, only the three major carriers provided support for RCS messaging, but a growing number of others have since joined in.

This list is sourced directly from Apple and will see updates as more carriers become compatible.

Carriers currently supporting RCS:

  • AT&T
  • C Spire
  • Consumer Cellular
  • Cricket
  • FirstNet
  • H20 Wireless
  • Metro by T-Mobile
  • PureTalk
  • Red Pocket
  • Spectrum Mobile
  • T-Mobile
  • TracFone / Straight Talk
  • US Cellular
  • Verizon
  • Visible
  • Xfinity Mobile

It’s clear that the current list is much longer than what was available at launch, which primarily included just AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. There’s significant participation from MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators), yet the list is not exhaustive.

Some notable omissions include Boost Mobile, Mint Mobile, and Ultra Mobile. Boost Mobile is the fourth largest carrier in the U.S., serving over 7 million customers, yet it has not yet adopted the RCS feature.

Interestingly, Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile were acquired by T-Mobile earlier this year, but T-Mobile has not yet enabled support for RCS on these newer sub-brands.
