Samsung Develops Galaxy S25 ‘Slim’ to Rival iPhone Air

There have been strong rumors indicating that Apple is developing an ultra-thin model of the iPhone, tentatively named the “iPhone 17 Slim” or possibly the “iPhone 17 Air.” Although we are nearly a year away from its debut, Samsung appears to be advancing its plans for a Galaxy S25 “Slim”.

Samsung seeks a ‘Slim’ competitor for iPhone Air

SmartPrix has revealed information regarding SM-S937, an enigmatic variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S25. The site notes that the model numbers for the successors of the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra have already been leaked, and this additional identifier suggests the lineup will expand with another version apart from the three already known.

Last month, a report disclosed that Samsung is constructing a “Slim” variant of the Galaxy S25, slated for release next year alongside other models in the S25 series. While the precise thickness of this new Galaxy phone remains uncertain, it appears that Samsung is determined to take the lead over Apple in the competition for the slimmest smartphone of 2025.

According to various sources, Apple is poised to substitute the “Plus” variant of the iPhone with this ultra-slim design next year. Rumors indicate that the device will feature a single rear camera and a reduced cut-out for the front camera and sensors integrated within the Dynamic Island. The so-called iPhone 17 Air is expected to be positioned as a mid-tier option between the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro.

The iPhone 17 Air is also anticipated to be among the first iPhone models to incorporate Apple’s new custom 5G modem, alongside the iPhone SE 4. However, a recent report suggested that Apple is encountering challenges in achieving a super-slim design, which may result in it not being as thin as originally envisioned.

Currently, the iPhone 17 lineup is projected to be revealed and launched in September of 2025. As is customary, this schedule may shift due to production and supply chain challenges.

It’s also crucial to keep in mind that, given the time still remaining until the iPhone 17 lineup is announced, Apple’s plans may evolve.
