Samsung Unveils ‘Galaxy S25 Edge’ to Compete with Anticipated iPhone 17 Air

Today, Samsung unveiled a range of products at its Unpacked 2025 event, featuring the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

As the event concluded, Samsung surprised attendees with a teaser for the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, which arrives just ahead of Apple’s anticipated launch of the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air later this year.

Those attending the Unpacked 2025 event, including our colleagues at 9to5Google, reported that the teaser for the Galaxy S25 Edge lacked specific details about the phone. While an exact release date remains undisclosed, speculations suggest it might hit the market as early as April or May. Samsung has also yet to provide any technical specifications for the model, with today’s reveal primarily emphasizing its name, “Galaxy S25 Edge.”

Recent reports indicate that the Galaxy S25 Edge could measure approximately 6.4mm in thickness. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be around 5.5mm at its narrowest point.

According to a supply chain update, Samsung commenced development of the Galaxy S25 Edge following the first rumors regarding the iPhone 17 Air in May of this year.

Leaked images from SmartPrix earlier this month suggest that the Galaxy S25 Edge will come equipped with three rear cameras, while the iPhone 17 Air is expected to include a single 48MP camera arranged in a horizontal “camera bar” design.

During an interview with Bloomberg today, TM Roh, the head of Samsung’s mobile division, spoke about the Galaxy S25 Edge:

The Edge will integrate similar technologies as found in the new Ultra model, but repackage them in a sleeker design. Customers seek a combination of “top performance, advanced camera features, the best AI, along with an appealing form factor that distinguishes it in the marketplace,” Roh noted in the interview.

“We aim to merge all the benefits of the S25 Ultra into a more streamlined design,” he stated.

“Our objective is to offer this at a price that is more economical than the Ultra models, making it accessible to a broader audience,” Roh concluded.

While details regarding the release date and pricing for the Galaxy S25 Edge are still pending, customers can currently pre-order Samsung’s other new flagship devices with a limited-time $50 discount using the links provided below:
