Score an Apple Watch Series 10 (almost) for free by staying active!

A lot of Apple Watch purchasers hope to enhance their health using the device. However, John Hancock has a program that provides an even greater motivation to stay fit. Through its Vitality Plus life insurance program, you can receive an (almost) free Apple Watch Series 10 simply by staying active.

Apple Watch as an incentive for consistent physical activity

John Hancock was among the pioneers in offering members a nearly free Apple Watch as a reward for consistent exercise. The initiative has met with considerable success, celebrating over 7 years of encouraging active lifestyles.

With the introduction of new Watch models, John Hancock recently confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 10 is part of the program.

This means you can acquire an Apple Watch Series 10 for the relatively low cost of just $25—provided you remain active.

You can find detailed information on the Vitality Plus program for obtaining an Apple Watch on John Hancock’s official website.

Here’s a brief overview of the necessary steps:

  1. Sign up for a Vitality membership account and complete the Vitality Health Review (VHR).
  2. Purchase your Apple Watch of preference with an initial payment of $25.
  3. Monitor your activity with the Watch and earn Vitality points to cover any remaining balance on the Watch.

The program emphasizes rewarding your achievements. As a result, the Watch’s total cost will be divided over two years, and you’ll need to accumulate enough Vitality points to ‘settle’ that amount. By maintaining an active lifestyle during those two years, you won’t incur any additional payments.

However, if you fail to earn enough Vitality points in a given month after receiving your Watch, you will be required to make a payment.

If you’re interested in other Apple Watch models, the program also offers the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch SE. The model you choose may influence the number of Vitality points you must earn each month.

For the Apple Watch Series 10, you’ll need to accumulate 500 Vitality points each month to avoid extra charges. That translates to about 25 ‘standard’ workouts or 16 ‘advanced’ workouts monthly. Keep in mind that you can earn Vitality points for various activities beyond traditional workouts, including your step count.

The complete system for points and how they can be earned is available for review here.
