With the fast-paced news surrounding the TikTok ban, a newly uncovered vulnerability in the iPhone’s USB-C port controller, and the repeated erosion of net neutrality protections, it has certainly felt like a tumultuous month. This week, however, I’d like to pause and share my expanding reading list for this year, alongside additional resources that I recommend for those beginning their journey into Apple security in 2025.

Security Bite is a weekly column focused on security topics from DMN. Each week, I provide valuable insights into data privacy, uncover the latest vulnerabilities, and highlight emerging threats within Apple’s extensive ecosystem of over 2 billion active devices.

Essential Apple Security Documentation

These resources are essential for anyone serious about understanding how Apple secures its software and hardware. Admittedly, they may not be the most exciting reads, but they offer comprehensive explanations of the security principles and technologies integrated into Apple’s products. Prepare your coffee!

Books I’m Planning to Read

If you’re like me, it can be daunting to navigate the plethora of cybersecurity literature, especially when it comes to books specifically addressing Apple security. There are numerous ‘How to Create iOS Apps’ or ‘iPhone for Dummies’-style guides, but a noticeable deficit exists in resources that tackle Mac security architecture, malware, and related topics. So, when Patrick Wardle announced the release of a second volume of The Art of Mac Malware this year, I eagerly anticipated it. The first volume provided an excellent breakdown of malware analysis.

Recommended Reads from Last Year

Here are some noteworthy books I read last year that I think are worth mentioning.

I’m also eager to hear your recommendations. Are there any great reads or resources that you could suggest? Please share them in the comments!
