Severance Season 2: Critics Say It’s ‘Worth the Wait’; Official Podcast Now Available!

With just over a week left until the premiere of Severance season 2, fans have two exciting announcements today: glowing reviews for the upcoming season and the launch of an official Severance podcast.

Critics affirm that Severance’s first season ‘wasn’t a fluke’

Severance is a show best enjoyed without spoilers. It appears that Apple has provided critics with strict guidelines on what spoilers can be shared in their reviews.

However, I’ve made sure to share excerpts from reviews that avoid any spoilers, yet will undoubtedly enhance your anticipation for season 2, debuting on January 17.

Andrew Webster from The Verge:

The first season of this sci-fi thriller wasn’t an accident…season 2 is just as impactful as the original, delving deeper into the dark and peculiar corners of the Severance world while introducing compelling new elements.

Angie Han from The Hollywood Reporter:

The fact that a corporation like Lumon actively discourages solidarity, individuality, and emotion will resonate with anyone who has held a job. Severance goes further, illustrating how corporate capitalism often alienates us from our most valuable selves. This season is frequently darker, less humorous, and may not feel more fulfilling, yet it strikes chillingly close to home.

Belen Edwards from Mashable:

Somehow, Severance manages to elevate itself in its second season, further building on its unique sci-fi concept and always keeping viewers on edge. Prepare for surprises this season!

Multiple reviews have characterized Severance season 2 as ‘worth the wait,’ as it has taken nearly three years to release.

New Official Severance Podcast Launches Today

Today marks the launch of a companion podcast titled ‘The Severance Podcast,’ featuring Ben Stiller and actor Adam Scott.

In anticipation of season 2, Stiller and Scott will conduct a complete rewatch of the first season and discuss it, along with some special guests. The initial two episodes are available now.

After the premiere of season 2, the podcast will continue with the duo analyzing each episode weekly.

Interestingly, despite Apple’s production of official Apple TV+ podcasts, the Severance podcast isn’t branded under that title. Instead, it is produced by Audacy and carries its own branding.

Are you excited for Severance season 2? Will you check out the new podcast? Share your thoughts in the comments.
