Shazam, the music identification service that Apple acquired in 2018, has reached an impressive milestone with its users identifying over 100 billion songs.
The song that has been identified the most is “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I, with over 45 million recognitions on Shazam.
Although the independent Shazam application continues to be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, its features have been increasingly woven into Apple’s operating systems and services.
For example, users can now add a Song Recognition widget to the Control Center, allowing for song detection from apps or via the microphone. Additionally, the Shazam Music Recognition feature can be assigned to the Action button on the iPhone 15 and newer models.
With the introduction of watchOS 11, the Apple Watch now automatically includes a Music Recognition shortcut in the Smart Stack when it detects loud music playing nearby.
Furthermore, Apple Music is incorporating Shazam’s data into various playlists, including Radio Spins, which tracks the most frequently played songs on radio stations.
