ShiftCam Introduces PLANCK: A Compact SSD for ProRes Video Recording on Your iPhone

At CES 2025, ShiftCam introduced PLANCK, which it claims is the smallest portable SSD in the world, specifically designed to aid in recording large videos on iPhones.

Weighing only 10 grams, PLANCK connects directly to the USB-C port of your iPhone. It delivers transfer speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and is capable of recording ProRes at 4K/120 with the iPhone 15 Pro and later models. Its compact size makes it a convenient solution for capturing extensive videos on your iPhone, particularly given Apple’s high prices for increased storage options.

According to ShiftCam, the PLANCK is drop-resistant, IP65 water-resistant, and durable enough to accompany you on all your creative endeavors. It’s engineered to meet the needs of content creators on the move.

In a recent press statement, ShiftCam CEO Benson Chiu expressed:

Our goal with PLANCK is to remove the hurdles posed by traditional storage solutions and enable creators to concentrate on their artistry. We’ve crafted a device that is so lightweight yet powerful, it seamlessly integrates into any creator’s workflow.

PLANCK will launch in both 1TB and 2TB versions, priced at $189 and $299, respectively, this coming spring.

Additionally, ShiftCam plans to initiate a Kickstarter campaign next month, offering early orders at discounted rates: 1TB for $125 and 2TB for $199. The launch details for the Kickstarter campaign are yet to be announced.

ShiftCam also revealed a USB-C hub that allows users to connect multiple PLANCK SSDs to their iPhones. Pricing information for this hub has yet to be disclosed.
