Users report ChatGPT is down
OpenAI has acknowledged the outage on their site. They stated that an issue with an “upstream provider” is the root cause, and efforts are underway to resolve it. However, there’s no timeline available for when GPT will be operational again. Additionally, the OpenAI API and the Sora video generation service are also affected.
“We are currently encountering high error rates on ChatGPT, the API, and Sora. […] This is due to an upstream provider. […] We are actively working on a solution,” OpenAI explained.
This isn’t the first incident of downtime for ChatGPT this month. The service faced another disruption on December 11, coinciding with the release of iOS 18.2, which integrated GPT into Siri. Consequently, some users might currently find it difficult to interact with the OpenAI chatbot via Siri.
