Elon Musk, the owner of X, made a gesture during the inauguration that some have labeled a “Roman salute,” a symbol that has gained notoriety quite recently, in contrast to its historic origins dating back to 476 AD.
This incident has presented a dilemma for journalists trying to articulate it, as the satirical site Men Carrying Things creatively highlighted.
According to Engadget, numerous subreddits have taken action by banning links to the platform owned by Musk, with hundreds more engaged in discussions about this direction.
In the last 24 hours, a numerous number of subreddits have decided to restrict links to X in their communities, forming a movement that seems to be gaining traction across Reddit […] This includes large subreddits like , which boasts nearly 5 million members […] are actively conversing about or contemplating a similar course of action.
The initiative seems to have originated from r/newjersey.
“Forget this guy. X links are now prohibited from r/newjersey,” they announced in a post that has received over 65,000 upvotes. The post included an image of Elon Musk extending his arm.
r/SeveranceAppleTVPlus is among the subreddits that have enacted this ban. Other major subreddits that have followed suit include , , , and – collectively representing over nine million users.
