Official Confirmation Yet to Come
To start, Apple TV+ has not made an official announcement regarding Ted Lasso’s return.
However, there is a wealth of indications suggesting that the series will indeed be back for season 4. This includes hints from executives, remarks from the cast, comments from co-creator Bill Lawrence, cast contract renewals, and the scheduling of production, among other signs.
While Apple representatives may remain tight-lipped about Ted Lasso’s future, it’s clear that a new season is on the horizon.
Key Cast Returning for Season 4
According to preliminary reports, most of the original cast of Ted Lasso is anticipated to return for the fourth season, which is fantastic news given that the ensemble cast is one of the series’ core strengths.
A potential exception includes Phil Dunster, who portrays Jamie Tartt. Dunster is said to be facing some scheduling conflicts that could affect his participation in the new season, but he may still make guest appearances.
Jason Sudeikis May Have a Smaller Role
Jason Sudeikis, the face behind the beloved character, might not feature as prominently in the upcoming season of Ted Lasso.
According to Matt Belloni on his podcast The Town, Sudeikis is expected to have a reduced presence throughout the new season.
While there will be numerous returning cast members, Sudeikis will be featured less on the show.
Nonetheless, it appears we’ll still see plenty of Ted, albeit possibly less than in previous seasons. This slight shift wouldn’t be entirely unexpected, as Lasso took a step back in season 3 to allow the strong cast to shine.
Season 4 Will Introduce AFC Richmond’s Women’s Team
According to a report by Sigmund Judge, a significant storyline for the forthcoming season will center on the establishment of a women’s team for AFC Richmond.
While the men’s team will undoubtedly remain a key focus of the show, it appears that Richmond is also committed to broadening its horizons by introducing a women’s team for the first time.
Anticipated Release for Season 4 on Apple TV+
Initially, production for Ted Lasso season 4 was anticipated to commence earlier this year. However, this has since changed, with reports suggesting that production may begin in the spring.
Despite that, various uncertainties make it challenging to estimate a definitive release date for Apple TV+.
New episodes of Ted Lasso arriving in 2025 seems improbable. Still, if they do extend beyond this year, season 4 might at least be available sometime in 2026.
